LA Lights Fire is a play concerning a fictional, cataclysmic fire that destroys Los Angeles. It consists of twelve monologues from characters touched by the disaster. They are loosely tied together by series of narrations about the Arsonist that started the blaze. This is the first.
This was the opening of the show, and took place over a span of about 5 minutes. It played behind a monologue where a man, stuck in traffic jam, goes berserk and gets into a large car crash....
This is the second of the Arsonist narrations. It segues directly into a monologue about a Scientologist that has bunkered himself in the Celebrity Center as the city turns to chaos. The knocking sounds are outsiders trying to break into the shelter.
This is the third of the narrations. It is directly followed by background effects that play behind a piece that takes place in the Home Depot Center, which has been converted into an immense refugee camp.
This sample begins with the death of a character who is furiously trying to finish a goodbye letter to his wife before his home is engulfed in flames. It was perhaps the most theatrical piece of the show. It is followed by the final Arsonist narration.
